In this blog I will be looking at the front and rear cover, which is one of the most important parts of the zine, as it grabs the consumers attention, and also makes the document stand out amongst a sea of similar zines.
A good zine usually has an eye-grabbing front cover page. |

When I tend to assemble a front cover, I always make sure that it is very well planned out, and reflects the content inside the book.
To do so, I tend to leave the front and rear covers until last, so that I can efficiently sum up the whole zine in a single page.
With this in mind, I will do just this, and leave the cover to be one of the last sections of the zine to be developed.
I will move onto research into book front covers.

Front Cover:
A front cover acts as a way to grab the attention of potential consumers, and also sums up the content, or story of the book.
Rear Cover:
The rear of the zine is another important aspect of the design, however in my opinion, not so much as important as the front, but do not underestimate the importance of the rear cover, as it is still very much so relevant.
The rear of a book often contains such elements as the blurb, which is a rough summery of the content featured inside the book. Zines usually do not need a blurb, however some do.

A good rear cover reflects on not only the content of the book/zine, but also works in tandem with the front cover.
The examples below depict this well.
